City of Williamsport: Home Buyer Program
The City of Williamsport provides home-buyer assistance to assist income-eligible families in becoming homeowners. Eligible homebuyers may obtain up to 20% of the purchase price as a 0% interest, deferred repayment loan.
The guidelines listed below must be followed.
The home must be located in the City of Williamsport.
- The City of Williamsport offers assistance to income-eligible families to help them become homeowners.
- Eligible homebuyers can receive a 0% interest, deferred repayment loan for up to 20% of the purchase price.
- To qualify, the home must be located within the City of Williamsport.
- Credit status and household income are important factors that are verified during the application process.
- All applicants must meet the income requirements set by HUD.
- The purchased property must be the primary residence of the buyer and remain as such for the duration of the loan.
- Standard banking and credit inquiries are conducted as part of the City's application process.
- The applicant is required to contribute at least 4% of the purchase price towards the project.
- City funding cannot exceed 20% of the purchase price.
- Prospective homebuyers must secure primary financing from a bank or other lending institution.
- The home must pass a city occupancy inspection and be a single-family unit.
